Got the blues..the reds…the oranges…
When they say we “get the blues” it seems so silly to me. How can one get the blues? Makes it sound like a disease.
A person says “I’ve got the blues” and everyone knows what it means. I’m so sad and lonely and I don’t know how to express it (or I don’t want to express it).
So what about the other colors? What would it mean if you got them? Here is my attempt at that, following the chakra colors bottom to top.
“I’ve got the reds.” My base is burning and unsteady. I might fall over. I need a man, woman, whatever to release this burning desire!
“I’ve got the oranges.” I need to create or procreate. NOW!
“I’ve got the yellows,” I’m hiding under my bed alone, shaking in fear and I might throw up.
“I’ve got the pinks and pretty greens.” Hippie-ville! Peace, Love and Joy to all.
“I’ve got the indigos.” I am so far above everyone and everything that my head hurts.
“I’ve got the purples.” I have escaped to lala land. Do you have something that I can take to keep me here?
Ah I feel better now! Blue is not so picked on. All colors are equal!
I vote that we change the connotation and the meaning of “the blues”. Blue is such a beautiful color that it needs a more positive take. It could be an awakening, an opening…taking what is deep and repressed and opening it up to the surface, to the world out there. Let it out. It could be just for me. It could be something to share, for others, from my spirit to yours. If it bugs you, it is meant to. If it teaches, it is meant to. If it just is out there, it is meant to be there to be snatched when one least expects it.
This does not always have to be sad or bad. It can be joyful, loving and giving. A peaceful blue.
