Know-vember!
Most quotes and thoughts on November are so dreary and dark. I decided to change it to “Know”vember.
“To know that we know what we know, and that we do not know what we do not know, that is true knowledge.” Henry David Thoreau
Well – it’s that time of year again! The leaves are falling with the rain; warm clothes have navigated to the front of the closet; inside heaters have kicked in and you have a craving for turkey, pumpkin pie, warm drinks, left over Hallowe’en candy , etc. Grey clouds are gathered from horizon to horizon, and rain falls and falls. If not for November, who would know that there are so many different shades of grey? Who would know the contrasting beauty of the porch light, a warm fire, the occasional weak rays of sunshine between the clouds and through the near barren branches of the trees? Who would know the brilliance of the first snow?
November is said to be the time of the dead. What a beautiful thought this could be! Without death there is no life, without life there is no death. We turn inward. We take time to remember the spring and summer, the years past, people gone from this world. All have made us what we are today and prepare us for the future.
November is reflecting time, time to know that those who have moved on are in their own peace, therefore allowing us our peace as well. It is a time of ending for what we consider the fall of nature, but also a time of regenerating by turning inward, followed by a rest and a readiness to continue or start again. A time to remember…
Remember sorrows so that the joys become more special.
Remember there is joy and quiet in the dark, just as there is joy and brilliance in the light.
Remember to eat apples, root vegetables (and chocolate) to keep you sustained as the weather changes.
Remember that the holidays are quickly coming.
Remember to carry your raincoat or umbrella…and yeah! rainboots are in style!
Remember what a truly sensational spirit each and every one of us is in this world, each our own light, each on our own journey.
Remember to Recycle!!!!!
Remember to have a very special November.
